Roots of Resilience Inc. is proud to introduce Shelly's Haven—Newfoundland and Labrador's first sober recovery home for pregnant women, mothers, and their children. Located in Conception Bay South, Shelly's Haven provides a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where women can build healthy, substance-free lives without being separated from their children, strengthening families while creating a foundation for lasting healing, stability, and independence.
As a Residential Serenity Home Initiative, Shelly's Haven empowers women to overcome addiction, rebuild their lives, and create brighter futures for themselves and their children through compassionate, trauma-informed care and comprehensive support services. As a registered non-profit organization, Roots of Resilience is committed to providing a compassionate, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed environment where every resident is treated with dignity, respect, and hope. Whether a woman is beginning her recovery journey independently or with her children, Shelly’s Haven recognizes that healing looks different for everyone and that recovery is strengthened through connection, community, and individualized support.
All services provided through Shelly’s Haven are completely barrier-free and offered at absolutely no cost to residents.
We believe financial barriers should never prevent someone from accessing life-changing support. Thanks to provincial funding, generous donors, community partners, and fundraising efforts, women and families can focus on recovery without the added burden of financial stress.
With provincial funding secured and continued support from our community, Shelly’s Haven is bringing a much-needed recovery and supportive housing program to Newfoundland and Labrador.

By combining the strength of lived experience peer support with qualified professional staff, residents will receive wraparound support including advocacy, case management, system navigation, crisis intervention, and practical guidance every step of the way.
Our goal is to address the root causes of trauma, addiction, poverty, and social isolation while empowering women and children to build healthy, resilient, and independent futures.
